Silence

(If we’re never silent we’ll never know what the silence holds).

Silence is a
rare bird,
scared
to the
fringes
of a land
intoxicated with
restlessness
and rush.

Impossible to
catch, this
illusive,
diffident, bird;
the nearer you
get, the
further she
frantically
flutters
out of reach.

Best
let silence
find you.
Warily,
timidly,
nervously
at first,
she comes,
attracted
to the scent
of
attentive stillness.

Inhabit stillness,
allow
stillness to
inhabit you.
Silence will
fly
deep into
your soul:
resting,
nesting,
singing
sweet
healing songs.
