Footprints in the sea

Footprints in the sea

Sometimes,
when sparkling
sunlight skims
the Sea of Galilee,
if you look close,
really close,
you can still see
them there,
after all
this time,
faint footprints,
glistening,
iridescent,
bobbing up and down
like tiny buoys,
easy to miss,
but there
nevertheless;
echoes of that
distant time
when
He:
walked,
jumped,
danced,
splashed,
on those
shimmering waters.

If you look closer,
you may just catch
a glimpse of the
others,
nowhere near
as many, just
a few faded
footprints,
left by
the fisherman,
who briefly
joined Him,
that day,
for a Walk
on the water:
tiptoeing,
tentative,
terrified,
tripping,
tumbling.

There could be
hundreds,
thousands,
millions
more
iridescent
fading
footprints,
crisscrossing
the waters of
that sparkling
Sea,
but perhaps
they
were just
too frightened, like you and me!
